Speaking at the recent CommunicAsia trade show in Singapore, TNS Singapore consumer insights director Nic Hall noted that mobile technology provides new opportunities for businesses to engage consumers more effectively.

According to Hall, the relationship between people and their mobile devices is rapidly shifting. This is largely due to the rise of internet-connected devices, which enable consumers to share information about their lives and communicate with one another more easily.

As this change occurs, Hall said, this may open new opportunities for viral marketing and mobile word-of-mouth ad campaigns.

For better or for worse, word travels fast around the internet. And it seems that this has only been expedited with the rise of mobile devices. Businesses and marketing strategist can take advantage of this trend by using it to spread information and, as Hall stated, act as advocates for a company's brand.

A new report from Flurry Analytics found that consumers are spending more time using their connected mobile devices to browse the internet and interact with apps. As this trend develops, businesses will have ample opportunity to increase brand exposure via mobile devices. According to the report, the average user spends 74 minutes per day browsing the mobile web, up from 70 minutes six months ago.
