Though the task of implementing a social media marketing campaign may be a challenge, Gravity Summit CEO Beverly Macy recently advised businesses to be proactive about social media, lest they be left behind.

Writing for the Huffington Post, Macy, noted the importance of going social. Even if early attempts result in failure, Macy stated that social media can lead to extensive benefits.

“My advice is fail fast, fail forward, but do something,” Macy wrote. “The rewards are waiting for those who blaze the trail.”

Not only does social media marketing offer a new platform for connecting with customers, it also enables a company to improve the transparency and authenticity of its brands, Macy asserted. This, in turn, can lead to higher levels of consumer trust and create a more personable image of the company.

“The opportunity to deepen relationships with clients and partners by removing communication barriers is truly transformational,” Macy stated.

One social media platform that remains unexplored as a marketing tool is the recently launched Google+. As Brafton has reported, the search giant is currently testing Google+ Pages for businesses, but it remains to be seen what new marketing advantages the social network will bring to the table.
