Hey there, Molly here with the top content marketing news from June that you’ll want to know.

At the start of the month, Mary Meeker’s Internet trends report was a big discussion point. Among the most interesting news was the simple fact that more people are connected to the internet than ever – up from 19% of the population to 64% in just five years. This is another reminder that the internet is saturated – brands that want to rise above competition need to be on top of their marketing strategies and digital trends.

In the search world, we were at the start of the month to be on the lookout for a Panda update within 2 to 4 weeks, but it appears that hasn’t happened yet. People were still talking, however, about the “Phantom” update that impacted some big brands’ rankings back in May.

Meanwhile, the FTC updated its social media transparency guidelines. It boils down to marketers who are soliciting reviews from bloggers or celebrities need to be transparent about the difference between a paid ad and an honest review.

Finally – Two separate studies were released confirming marketers need to have professional social media presences. Marketing Land and Interbrand reported that 1 in 3 CMOs isn’t active on social media – despite the fact that 64 percent of marketers says having a social presence has helped them close deals.
