The Grammys brought music fans plenty of hot topics to discuss this week, and it’s no surprise that Lady Gaga was at the center of the buzz. After the release of her new song, Born This Way, (the first track off the album of the same name), it seems that the current Queen of Pop has birth on the brain. The singer showed up to the Grammys encased in an egg, carried by several fabulous (and sexy!) gold-clad attendants. Nearly a week after the awards show, fans were still tweeting about Gaga’s entrance minute-to-minute, according to a Google Realtime search for “Lady Gaga Grammys.”

Gaga was far from the only star to generate gossip at the show. Justin Bieber’s screaming teenage fan base was up in arms after the pop sensation failed to win the award for Best New Artist. The honor went to Esperanza Spalding, a jazz singer who crashed onto the music scene this year with her unique style and impressive musical talent.

“Beliebers” weren’t to be ignored however. It seems that the Baby singer’s fans are not to be messed with – Spalding’s Wikipedia page was vandalized shortly after the announcement was made, and many people uploaded videos to YouTube protesting the doling out of the award. At press time, A YouTube search for “Justin Bieber should have won” yields more than 5,700 videos.

In other music-related entertainment news, critics and audiences have had plenty to say about the premier of the recent opera based on the life of Anna Nicole Smith, which debuted in London on Thursday, February 17. Less than a day afterward, there were nearly 2,000 news stories about the opera available on Google News.

“Whether the real-life Anna Nicole was a tragic figure is debatable,” writes Anthony Tommansini in the New York Times. “But [composer Mark-Anthony] Turnage and [librettist Richard] Thomas have given us a tragic operatic heroine, a downtrodden nobody determined to make it…any way she can.”

We’ll have to wait and see if the opera makes its way to theaters in the U.S. For now, we’ll have to settle for Julie Taymor’s Broadway production of Spider Man, which should bring enough drama to keep New York City audiences happy for now.
