LinkedIn, perhaps the leading social media platform geared toward professionals, now boasts 187 million users around the world. This could be good news for B2B social marketers trying to reach business buyers on the web.

The network is growing rapidly. In August, LinkedIn had 175 million members, according to the company’s recent earnings report which was released on Thursday. Users have jumped by 12 million in just two months, proving LinkedIn is a useful tool for reaching a wide array of business executives.

Brafton recently reported that LinkedIn is increasing its presence in the B2B social media marketing landscape. A number of new features and an overhaul of existing Pages have made LinkedIn more usable. A report from the Content Marketing Institute and MarketingProfs revealed that 83 percent B2B brands are currently using LinkedIn to distribute branded content.

According to LinkedIn, the company’s revenue is growing alongside product development. Although Facebook has a little more than 1 billion users, LinkedIn’s stock beats Facebook, signifying its market value and potential for growth.

As the professional social networking site grows, leaders can learn how to leverage it for B2B success. Marketers and business leaders can use LinkedIn for marketing, content distribution, job postings and other professional initiatives.
