Fresh and regular content is one of the most important things a marketer should consider when seeking to boost their website’s search engine ranking, an expert has claimed.

A commentator on the Organic Website Traffic blog has acknowledged that both updated copy and inbound links are important but that some promoters focus on links at the cost of their content.

However, the article warned that old or out-of-date content is one of the "most negative" indexing factors.

"Focusing on getting links and neglecting the content of your existing links is actually one of the most non-productive approaches you can implement," it stated.

Recently, industry commentator Nick Stamoulis suggested in a posting on his Search Engine Optimization Journal that writing regular content about a niche area for a prolonged time would boost a site’s search engine ranking.

Furthermore, he suggested that journalists looking for experts to discuss a subject would be more likely to contact a company which puts out a regular, credible blog.
