As more organizations discover the power behind search engine optimization (SEO), the types of industries using the online marketing tool increases. Now a city is using search engine optimization (SEO) to help draw tourism and convention dollars.

VISIT DENVER, the nonprofit convention and visitors bureau for the city of Denver, Colorado has hired 90octane to help manage its search engine optimization (SEO) and pay-per-click marketing.

Justin Bresler, vice president of marketing and business development at VISIT DENVER said the organization has been looking for ways to increase traffic to Denver.org as well as the city itself.

"Our need to better tie user activity to measurable goals beyond simple traffic measurement was a perfect fit with 90octane’s focus on driving conversions," said Bresler. "We want to focus on those metrics that truly drive tourism and meetings in Denver, and 90octane will help us do that."

A number of studies have shown that as traditional forms of marketing are expected to wane in the next few years, search engine optimization will continue to expand with the types of industries using the marketing tool increasing.

In February Atlanta Spirit, the company behind the Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta Thrashers announced it would be working with a search engine optimization (SEO) company to increase traffic and ticket purchases.
