The leading social network, Facebook, served more than 1 trillion page views in June, making it the single most-viewed website on the internet, according to a report from Google ad network DoubleClick.
In June alone, Facebook garnered more than 870 million unique visits, exceeding the social network's total member base. As Read Write Web notes, this is because user profiles and company pages rank highly in search engines, so nonmembers may be presented these pages when searching for related queries.
DoubleClick's report also highlights that Facebook users boast high engagement levels. The average visitor browsed 1,150 pages over the course of the month, indicating that consumers are spending a considerable amount of time looking at profiles and brands' Facebook fan pages.
The No. 2 site for June was YouTube, which trailed behind Facebook by nearly 100 million visitors.
