Experian Hitwise reported on Friday that Google accounted for more than 65 percent of web searches in the four-week period ending on August 27.

While Google still maintains a healthy market share, Bing-powered search gained 3 percent market share compared to the previous four-week period. Yahoo and Bing accounted for more than 28 percent of web searches.

As Google has become the primary player in search in the last decade, some wondered if other companies could make up any ground in the market. However, Bing’s partnership with Yahoo has expanded Microsoft’s search reach and proved a legitimate challenger to Google.
