For a second year in a row, Google has been named the world’s most valuable brand, topping a list of the 100 most powerful trademarks.

Market research firm Millward Brown has published its league, which is based on financial data and interviews with more than one million consumers across the globe, noting that the combined value of the top 100 is now $1.94 trillion.

Commenting on Google’s ongoing success, Nigel Hollis, chief global analyst of Millward Brown, said powerful brands are ones which have strong relationships with their consumers.

"Google has a brand that speaks to the need for anyone wanting to find what they need in an increasingly complex world," he added.

Other high-ranking brands included General Electric, Microsoft and Coca-Cola.

Recently, Google announced high first-quarter profits, with its net income for the period standing at $1.31 billion.

Eric Schmidt, chief executive officer of the search giant, stated that the company would continue to explore different business opportunities to add long-term value to the firm.
