There have been signs in recent weeks that the economy – and in turn the housing market – may be improving, but because the industry is still down dramatically from the highs of recent years, one expert says homebuilders may want to consider increasing their search engine optimization (SEO) to sell homes.

In his real estate column for California’s Orange County Register, Jonathan Lansner spoke with Atlanta-based marketing professional Carol Flammer who said homebuilders should have a blog to help increase brand reputation and search engine optimization (SEO).

Flammer says a blog is the cornerstone of any company’s social media campaign and says using appropriate keywords and links will help increase the search engine optimization (SEO) of the blog and draw people to the main site of a homebuilder.

It appears that even niche homebuilders can benefit from the use of search engine optimization (SEO). Recently, GoUpstate.com, the website of the Spartanburg (South Carolina) Herald-Journal, said that Blue Ridge Log Cabins, a South Carolina-based log cabin builder has seen its sales increase four-fold in a little over a year on the back of search engine optimization (SEO) and online marketing.
