Many companies are under the impression that just because they have a product that isn’t "state-of-the-art" there’s no reason to use online marketing or search engine optimization (SEO). But as one builder of homes Abe Lincoln would be proud of can attest to, using the internet to market any product can have incredible results.

GoUpstate.com, the website of the Spartanburg (South Carolina) Herald-Journal, notes that Blue Ridge Log Cabins, a log cabin builder in the area, has seen its sales increase four times since last July as a result of online marketing.

The story of Blue Ridge Log Cabins is an example of how a niche business can use the internet and online marketing to get its product out to people that might have never seen it in the past. According to company owner Milton "Chip" Smith, the website has gotten responses from people as far away as China and Australia and has delivered its product to New York and Wyoming.

"We realized the power of the internet in marketing," Smith told the newspaper. "It’s really an amazing tool that has infinitely broadened our horizons."

Although it takes a certain person to want to live in a log cabin, using search engine optimization (SEO) and online marketing for a construction firm is nothing new. Recently New York-based construction company Secure Choice announced it would be unveiling a new website with an aggressive SEO campaign.
