ComScore has released its web property rankings for April 2011, and it seems the search giant's sites are taking a back seat to Microsoft sites.

Google may be the No. 1 search engine, but Microsoft's web properties attract more visitors. Search marketers may ask themselves whether Microsoft site enthusiasts will also become avid Bing users.

ComScore's most recent ranking of the top web properties show that in April of 2011, Microsoft sites were the No. 2 properties on the web. The company boasted more than 178 million unique visitors to its sites over the course of last month, showing nice growth over the 176 million visitors it accrued in March.

Meanwhile, Google dropped down from the No. 2 spot in March to the No. 3 spot in April. It went from nearly 177 million unique visitors to 175 million last month.

Once again, Yahoo sites came out as the No. 1 properties on the web – putting both Google and Microsoft to shame with more than 187 million unique site visitors. As Brafton has reported, the company (which is Bing's search partner) has long boasted the top web properties.

While companies with Bing-powered search engines may have bumped down Google sites in last month's web property rankings, Google is still the top company directing traffic to other businesses' sites. The latest search engine rankings reveal that Bing – though gaining ground at 14 percent – is still behind Google.
