A growing number of industries are using search engine optimization (SEO) to help increase their online visibility, but one company says the best way to increase website traffic is to create original content year round.

In a recent white paper, HRmarketer.com says that creating a well-designed and optimized website is an essential part of lead generation, but the company notes that original content is "the best way to drive traffic" to a site.

The company points out that an increasing number of consumers are heading to the web for information, but it’s rare that they actually type in the URL. Instead, these consumers head to a search engine and let the likes of Google find information for them – which only increases the need for a good search engine optimization (SEO) strategy.

"Having great content on your web site increases the likelihood of your company showing up on search results – and prospects finding you first," writes HRmarketer.com in its white paper. "But placing the content on your web site is not enough – you need to leverage the content in your marketing and PR."

An increasing number of search engine optimization (SEO) experts are touting the benefits of original content to increase visibility for websites. At the SMXWest conference earlier this year, Bruce Clay told OBSNews.com that getting original content into Google News is "worth its weight in gold."
