Many businesses have recognized that using social networks can be an effective way to generate buzz about their brand. But, according to a recent Small Business Trends report, companies can do more to get their marketing campaigns off the ground.

Undoubtedly, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are the three big names in social media. Each has proven to be a useful channel for many companies looking to spread the word about their business and capture consumer attention.

However, according to the news provider, businesses – particularly smaller companies – would also be well served to explore other social networks, especially those that focus on their specific industries. This can help a company focus on potential customers that are likely more interested in its services and potentially garner a greater ground swell.

Additionally, Small Business Trends recommended companies create a blog, which can further aid a marketing campaign through SEO tactics.

As a recent study from Oxford Economics and SAP found, social media has great potential for companies. In a survey of more than 350 business executives, more than 30 percent said social media will have a significant impact on their company in the next five years.
