During the kickoff to this year’s SMX West conference in California, Kerri Morgret was named "Biggest Search Geek in America," beating out some 1,700 contestants for the top spot.

Morget, who works for the Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education (ISKME) says she has knowledge of the industry from using search engine marketing techniques like search engine optimization (SEO) to drive traffic to the non-profit’s website.

Although Morget handily beat out the competition by scoring 76.8 percent in a test with a median score of 33 percent, she says she still has a lot to learn about the industry.

"Search advertising is a massive, multi-billion dollar market, but it’s also a relatively new medium, so many search marketers are figuring out the puzzle as they go along," said Morget. "I look forward to taking part in SMX to learn from the developer track and network with other attendees."

The SMX West conference runs today through Thursday in Santa Clara, California and will cover a variety of search engine marketing topics from search engine optimization (SEO) to keyword research.
