Almost half of all internet users look for business’ or some sort of product or service every day using a search engine, according to a recent study by MediaWeek.com. This makes for the perfect opportunity to drive traffic to a business’s website.

Dana Kohlbeck, a public relations specialist for Coalesce Marketing & Design a Wisconsin marketing firm and columnist for the Post Crescent, says there are a few cost-efficient tips for effectively marketing a business on the web.

One recommendation from Kohlbeck is distributing press releases online. Having relevant websites link to yours is a great way to boost traffic and increase seach engine optimization. However, Kohlbeck points out that the quality of the links is an important factor.

Another way to generate traffic is to have articles published that are relevant to the company’s industry. If the article runs on another website, make sure to link back to your own site somewhere in the piece.

One new idea is having a blog or news on the site to speak directly to the audience. Kohlbeck says maintaining a blog or news keeps fresh content on the site and drives traffic.

For all of the tips it is important to use keywords for search engines to find your site. Placing specific keywords which are tailored to the business can maximize their website and PR campaigns.
