Twitter announced expanded Promoted Tweets this week to help brands improve their social media marketing campaigns.

Social media giant Twitter announced this week that Promoted Tweets will be expanded to appear on the feeds of users that don’t typically follow the company paying for the advertisement.

The Tweets will appear in relevant searches. While some users may be unhappy about the addition of advertisements, Twitter believes it will help people find better information offered by businesses using social media marketing. Additionally, a specific Tweet can be dismissed manually by a user.

In the past, Promoted Tweets were available only to users that followed the brand, but the businesses paid for it to remain atop search results for an extended period of time.

For marketers, Twitter continues to become a more attractive option for social media marketing campaigns. Brafton reported last week that the company recently surpassed 150 million users, many of whom access the website every day.
