Nielsen reported on Monday that Facebook is the most frequently visited web page for online Americans users.

Facebook may be the ideal platform for social media marketing strategies, according to a report from market research firm Nielsen. According to the firm’s Q3 Social Media Report, the website is the most frequently visited page for American web users.

In general, nearly 25 percent of time people spend on the web is browsing Facebook, Twitter and other popular social media websites. The report found Amercians spend more than 53 billion minutes per month on Facebook. Moreover, Twitter receives 565 billion minutes of traffic per month.

While the uses of these websites continue to evolve, the growing focus on social media presents an opportunity for marketers to target a massive audience. Currently, Facebook has more than 750 million active users around the world. Targeting audiences on social media can be difficult for some, but well-rounded campaigns that integrate content marketing, social media and SEO intuitively provide customers with information, engagement and calls to action.

Brafton reported on Monday that more than 50 percent of Facebook users report Liking brand pages on the website. While companies have succeeded simply offering discounts on their pages, developing customized content for specific audiences can help businesses position themselves as thought leaders in their industries, which can improve the likelihood of conversion.
