The opportunity to be one of the first companies on Google+ is quickly coming to a close, as the search giant will soon stop accepting applications for the early test phase for businesses.

The cutoff for submissions is today at 9 p.m. EST, and Google+ project developer Christian Oestlien noted that not all of the “thousands upon thousands” of interested businesses would be accepted.

For those that don't make the cut, it's not the end of the world. As Brafton reported, Oestlien first announced the test phase last week, but he admitted the social network is not yet “optimally suit” as a platform for businesses.

But those businesses with applications that are accepted will have the opportunity to explore the latest social network on the block, as well as its capabilities as a content marketing platform. Given the great deal of hype surrounding Google+, the testing phase will be necessary to ensure the social network is optimized for businesses and their marketing strategies.

Oestlien stated that Google would contact those selected to participate in the testing phase next week, adding that company profiles already created on Google+ are actively being closed.
