Facebook has announced a “Send” button that lets users share content they find on the web with friends in related Groups. Internet marketers who incorporate the button on their sites may find it helps their content reach a more relevant social audience.

The Send button is now available on 50 leading websites (and it may soon be available for marketers and site developers to add to their own sites). It serves to help funnel content across the web to the right social users.

“A year ago, we launched the Like button, which gives you a quick way to share the things you find on the web with all your friends. But there are times when you find something that you only want to share with a few specific people,” says Facebook.

The Send button builds off of Facebook's Groups, as users can “send' content to specific groups. As Brafton has reported, Facebook Groups allow users to share information with select friends.

Facebook is also expanding its Group options, now allowing users to approve people before they are added to a Group, to upload photo albums to groups so only Group members can see them and to post questions or polls to specific Groups.

Brands may want to add the Send button to their sites when it is available, as sharing content with social audiences is core to any social media marketing approach, and social media marketing is proven to drive sales. As Brafton reported, 72 percent of experienced social marketers say their social campaigns have helped them close sales.
