Given the enthusiasm surrounding smartphones and other connected mobile devices, it is becoming apparent that mobile content marketing represents a new and potentially lucrative frontier for businesses. According to one expert, for businesses to take advantage of this trend, they must optimize their websites for mobile activity.

“No one can deny the obvious: mobile is the next big thing. You either adapt, or you stay behind, wasting potential business,” wrote Everything PR editor Mihaela Lica Butler.

By designing a website and landing pages specifically designed for mobile devices, companies can ensure their customers are afforded a rich and convenient experience when visiting a mobile website. This, coupled with informative content, can bolster customer satisfaction and help drive new business.

Many companies, particularly those with limited staff and web design experience, may find the task of design for mobile daunting. However, as Lica Butler pointed out, there are several services available that make designing a mobile optimized website relatively simple. For example, as Brafton has reported, Google has introduced a number of free mobile website templates to help companies mobilize their operations.

“These pages have to be integrated into a mobile campaign – deployed on the web, then pushed in front of potential consumers,” Lica Butler noted. “As with everything else, it is not enough to 'build it' for people to come.”

Many businesses are already recognizing the importance of mobile marketing and are investing accordingly. As Brafton reported, a recent study from the Interactive Advertising Bureau found that 63 percent of surveyed companies have increased their mobile marketing budgets in the last two years.
