Having content published on different websites can be a great way to improve a website’s search engine optimization (SEO), according to Justilien Gaspard, writing at Search Engine Land.
Gaspard says that professional writers and editors are essential elements of any such inbound link campaign, recommending that companies looking to make such a move hire "unemployed or underpaid" journalists specializing in their industry. Experts say that, given the current job market for journalists, they shouldn’t be hard to find.

As to the choice of venue, Gaspard writes that "guest blog postings are a good place to start. These types of postings can deliver good traffic and exposure." However, he says that the anyone-can-publish online article websites are best avoided, in favor of those that exercise some editorial control over their content.

Search engine optimization (SEO), analysts say, begins and ends with custom content. The best content delivers valuable information in and of itself – which creates the belief that the content provider is an authoritative source – while simultaneously leading web surfers to follow links to a company’s core website.
